On Monday October 27, 2008, in Ottawa, the Canadian Defence & Foreign Affairs Institute held its 7^th annual conference on foreign policy and defence issues. This year expert speakers from academia, the public service, and the corporate world will seek to shed light on current cross border issues between Canada and the United States as well as develop amicable solutions for the challenges facing both nations.

The second session of the conference was entitled "North American Defence Issues" and featured Jonathan Paquin (Université Laval), Robert Pastor (American University), Stephen Brooks (Dartmouth College), Joel Sokolsky (Royal Military College).
