BC MP Russ Hiebert was bitten by the political bug at an early age, running in his first election while in Grade 5. Russ grew up in Steinbach, Manitoba, and first moved to Ottawa following the 1993 election, working as an MP's assistant. Russ returned to school, earned his law degree at UBC, went to Washington where he worked at the Canadian Embassy and then ran for office in 2004, winning the seat of South Surrey-White Rock-Cloverdale.
