On June 9th, 2009, in Ottawa, Kamalesh Sharma, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Secretariat spoke at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) on the topic of "Global transformation and challenge - a Commonwealth perspective." Mr Sharma discussed the food, energy, and other challenges faced by developing states and reflected on the debate surrounding the reform of global institutions.
