The Munk Debate on Foreign Aid
On
Monday, June 1st, 2009, the third semi-annual Munk Debates was held in Toronto.
Paul Collier, Professor of Economics at Oxford University,
Hernando de Soto, the President of the Institute for Liberty and Democracy,
Stephen Lewis, Co-Founder and Co-Director of AIDS-Free World, and
Dambisa Moyo, an economist and the author of
Dead Aid: Why Aid is Not Working and How There is a Better Way For Africa, discussed the opportunities and hazards of foreign aid, by debating the resolution: "
be it resolved that foreign aid to developing countries is doing more harm than good."
