It is rumoured to be a land of gold, a northern Shangri-La, guarded by giants. The discovery of headless prospectors a century ago helped to enhance its image as a dark and secret place. The reality is that the Nahanni is a paradise that`s not quite so deadly, but no less dramatic. It boasts waterfalls almost twice as high as Niagara's, deep canyons and the rarest of geological formations.
