On November 2nd, 2009, the Canadian Defence & Foreign Affairs Institute (CDFAI) and the Canadian International Council (CIC) jointly hosted the 2009 Annual Ottawa Conference. The focus of this year's conference was Canada's National Strategic Relations: NATO & NORAD.

Josef Joffe, the publisher-editor of the German weekly Die Zeit, delivered one of the keynote addresses.
