This week on Talk Politics,
Ken Rockburn hears two perspectives on the Manley Report and Canada's role in Afghanistan. First, Ken speaks with Esprit de Corps editor
Scott Taylor about the Report's recommendations for Canada's military. And then, Ken speaks with the Senlis Council's Dr.
Almas Bawar Zakhilwal about what the Manley Report has to say about the way Canada's development aid is being managed. The Senlis Council's has been quite critical of the way CIDA is directing those funds and have recently issued their own report on the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.
And finally, on an issue that is closer to home, Ken speaks with
Dave Porter and
Leonard Thomas about the devastation caused by the Mountain Pine Beetle in B.C.'s interior. Over 13 million hectares of land have been affected by this destructive insect. Porter and Thomas, both with the B.C. Forestry Council, talk about how the infestation has been a major cause of concern in First Nations' communities throughout BC's interior and is now spreading into neighbouring Alberta.
