Monday, February 8 at 1 PM ET / 10 AM PT The World in 2015: Implications for CanadaThe National Capital Branch of the Canadian International Council organized this two-day conference, which was held in Ottawa from January 21 to 22, 2010. In the last panel discussion on January 22nd, the University of Ottawa's Gilles Paquet, former Quebec Justice Minister Gil Rémillard, former Canadian Ambassador to the U.S. Michael Wilson, and professor Paul Evans (University of British Columbia) looked at the challenges that lie ahead for Canada in 2015.

A Roundtable Discussion on JobsOn January 25th, Liberal MPs held a roundtable discussion on Parliament Hill. In the opening session, Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff delivered opening remarks followed by key stakeholders from the manufacturing sector participating in a discussion on jobs:

Monday, February 8 at 6 PM ET / 3 PM PT Roadmap to Recovery SummitOn February 1st and 2nd, 2010, in Ottawa, the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters Association held its economic recovery summit. This year's theme was "Roadmap to Recovery Summit." During this opening session, economists and academics discuss structural changes that will reshape Canada’s economic recovery over the next five years and develop a consensus about what should be done to encourage investments and innovation.

Governor General Michaëlle Jean presented bravery awards on February 4th, 2010, to 47 individuals who risked their lives in order to save someone else's. One Star of Courage and 46 Medals of Bravery were handed out at the ceremony, which was held at Rideau Hall in Ottawa. The group of recipients included a member of the U.S. Coast Guard, police officers, and three children who had been under the age of 11 when they saved their relatives. The Bravery Decorations were created in 1972. The incidents don't need to have taken place in Canada and the rescuer doesn't have to be Canadian, but Canadians or Canadian interests must be involved.
Tuesday, February 9 at 3 AM ET / 12 AM PT 2010 National Celebration of Martin Luther King DayOn January 18th, 2010, in Ottawa, the Canadian Martin Luther King Jr. Coalition, in collaboration with KGM Enterprises and Liberal MP Yasmin Ratansi (Don Valley East, Ont), organized the 2010 national celebration of Martin Luther King Day. This year's MLK awards were given to British Columbia Senator Mobina Jaffer and Grandfather William Commanda (Spiritual Elder of the Algonquin Nation of Turtle Island).
