POSITION: Manager, Communications and Marketing (Bilingual)

As Canada’s only national, bilingual media outlet focused exclusively on politics, we are unique in the Canadian media landscape. We are looking for a bilingual media professional to join our innovative and nimble team as Manager, Communications and Marketing.

THE ROLE:

The Manager, Communications and Marketing will be responsible for implementing the marketing and communication strategy. The ideal candidate is fluently bilingual and self-motivated with a strong work ethic that enables them to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. This position reports to the Director of Communications, Marketing and Public Affairs.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. In collaboration with the Director of Communications, Marketing and Public Affairs, develop and implement a comprehensive publicity and promotions plan designed to increase awareness and tune-in of CPAC as a station, as well as specific CPAC programming;
  2. Under the direction of the Director of Communications, Marketing and Public Affairs, develop and implement a fulsome social media strategy to build awareness of CPAC’s mission and content to target audiences;
  3. Oversee the implementation of CPAC’s external corporate and media communications strategies;
  4. Organize and oversee external events, write news releases as required;
  5. Develop internal communications programs to inform and engage employees, including organizing town halls, electronic newsletters, employee announcements and engagement;
  6. Foster relationships with parliamentarians, media, influencers and stakeholders to support CPAC’s programming and communications campaigns with the goal of maximizing CPAC’s audience and media profile. Represent CPAC at trade and government relations events;
  7. Manage media requests and monitor and identify issues relating to media reporting on CPAC’s programming or corporate brand;
  8. Oversee planning and implementation of CPAC sponsorships;
  9. Evaluate and report on CPAC ratings and the success of communications campaigns based on established performance metrics;
  10. Oversee activities of Communications and Marketing Coordinator, Social Media and Promotions Coordinator, and Promotions Producer;
  11. Oversee event budgets and accounting for related expenses and invoices;
  12. Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED):

  1. 3-5 years of experience in Communications and/or Public Relations, including executing strategic communications campaigns; Experience working in public affairs/news media with a focus on politics an asset;
  2. Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills in both French and English;
  3. Extensive passion for politics and public affairs;
  4. Established relationships with media and key stakeholders within the federal politics sphere;
  5. Experience working with government, politicians, and managing high-profile personalities;
  6. Energetic, creative self-starter who is detail-oriented, solutions-focused and results-driven;
  7. Collaborative team player who works well under pressure, effectively manages high volumes of work and multiple projects, and meets deadlines in an extremely fast-paced work environment;
  8. Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills;
  9. Knowledge of and experience working with social media, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Linked In;
  10. University degree and/or diploma in communications;

  12. Ability to work some evenings and weekends (overtime), as required;
  13. Fluently bilingual, in English and French;

POSITION: Motion Graphics Designer

As Canada’s only national, bilingual media outlet focused exclusively on politics, we are unique in the Canadian media landscape. We are looking for a creative media professional to join our innovative and nimble team as a Motion Graphics Designer.

THE ROLE:

The Motion Graphics Designer will create engaging visual content including videos, graphics, and amazing motion design assets. You will contribute at all phases of the creative process and work on a wide swath of projects from broadcast design to producing promotional content for traditional and new media platforms.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maximize the promotion of CPAC programming, websites and social media platforms;
  2. Produce world-class broadcast design and visual effects. Create complex 2D and 3D motion graphics and animations incorporating live video content for station branding, show intros, bumpers, snipes, and lower thirds;
  3. Create show logos, graphic elements, marketing materials, ads, posters, etc;
  4. Develop multimedia campaigns featuring eye-catching motion graphics and innovative designs for web and social media;
  5. Provide creative input into all communications and marketing campaigns;
  6. Contribute to the overall development of the CPAC brand and sub-brands in collaboration with agencies and freelancers and ensure consistency with the approved visual identities and brand standards;
  7. Actively participate in brainstorming sessions with the development team to translate complex ideas into clear messaging and enticing visuals that capture the attention of the intended audiences;
  8. Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED):

  1. Highly creative, with an eye for design and a range of skills in motion design including video, animation, VFX, etc;
  2. Proven experience designing for television;
  3. Self-motivated and deadline driven, with the ability to work on multiple campaigns simultaneously;
  4. Immersed in broadcast and multi-platform design and on top of the latest design trends and developments;
  5. Able to optimize content for various platforms including TV, social media, web, and print;
  6. Expert skill set with Adobe Creative Suite, Boris, Trapcode Suite, and Cinema 4D;
  7. Bilingualism is an asset.

This is a full time, 12-month contract position, with the possibility of renewal.

POSITION: Communications and Marketing Coordinator (Bilingual)

We are looking for a bilingual Communications and Marketing Coordinator to join our creative and nimble team.

THE ROLE:

Based in Ottawa just steps from Parliament Hill, we are seeking an enthusiastic and creative individual to help bring our communications and marketing strategies to life. As part of a dynamic and ambitious team of marketing professionals, this is an exciting opportunity to create promotional content that will help grow awareness of CPAC’s programming. The successful candidate will also proactively support and advise internal stakeholders on their communications and marketing initiatives.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working under the direction of the Manager, Communications and Marketing, the successful candidate will:

  1. Develop and disseminate compelling and visually appealing communications and marketing assets, including web content, social media, print, SEO, SEM, and more;
  2. Coordinate advertising and promotional campaigns, including production, approvals, budget tracking, and scheduling;
  3. Ensure consistent application of CPAC’s brand standards and ensure proper use of photo, logo and video assets in accordance with industry best practices;
  4. Monitor the rollout of CPAC’s advertising and promotional campaigns and prepare reports as required;
  5. Collaborate with colleagues, agencies, freelancers, and suppliers;
  6. Participate in weekly meetings with the communications, marketing and editorial teams.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED):

  1. Have a solid understanding of digital marketing and a passion for designing campaigns that are creative, original, targeted, and effective;
  2. Have a solid understanding of social and digital environments;
  3. Get excited about data-mining;
  4. Have excellent verbal and written communications skills in both official languages;
  5. Be a born multi-tasker and flexible in their response to business priorities;
  6. Know what to prioritize, when to take initiative, and when to flag issues to campaign managers;
  7. Have excellent organizational and coordination skills;
  8. Be a collegial team-player;
  9. Be available to work available to work overtime or shift hours on occasion as required;
  10. Have an undergraduate degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications or a related field from a recognized post-secondary institution or equivalent work experience;
  11. Have at least two years of experience in a similar role – experience working for an agency considered an asset;
  12. Have broadcast and politics experience – considered an asset.

POSITION: Associate Producer (French)

As Canada’s only national, bilingual media outlet focused exclusively on politics, we are unique in the Canadian media landscape. We are looking for a bilingual Associate Producer to join our creative and nimble team.

THE ROLE:

CPAC is seeking a bilingual (French/English) journalist to join our editorial team to create broadcast, digital and social media content. Based in Ottawa, this is a great opportunity for an individual who is keenly interested in storytelling and embraces the challenges of producing content that engages the unique needs of different audiences across all platforms. The chosen individual will possess strong journalism skills combined with an ardent appreciation and knowledge of all things political.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Producing compelling, engaging content for CPAC’s daily political shows, digital and social media platforms, including daily fact packages or explainer packages;
  2. Editing digital-first programs and video segments for CPAC’s digital properties, including the CPAC website and social media accounts;
  3. Ensuring the timely publication of on-demand video to the CPAC website, as required;
  4. Actively engaging in daily editorial meetings; pitching new editorial content and/or ideas on how to prepare and enhance proposed stories or segments;
  5. Researching information, writing scripts and sourcing images for fact packages;
  6. Working with producers and hosts of CPAC’s daily political shows – ensuring fact and explainer packages and other editorial content is vetted before distribution on all media platforms;
  7. Working with editors to produce graphics and other elements for fact packages, including approving the final product before submitting it to the show producer for final vetting;
  8. Selecting, editing, packaging, posting and optimizing content for social media platforms including YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram;
  9. May be required to field produce, report and conduct interviews for the daily shows as well as for special coverage such as political conventions or elections related coverage;
  10. Assisting producers by chase producing guests and helping coordinate or produce interviews;
  11. Assisting in the development of special in-depth feature series for the daily political shows.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED):

  1. The ability to produce and edit content in both French and English is essential; preference may be given to candidates whose first language is French;
  2. A post-secondary degree or diploma in journalism or equivalent related experience;
  3. A keen interest in politics and the business of democracy;
  4. A strong understanding of journalism practices and broadcast standards;
  5. Excellent writing skills, including familiarity with Canadian Press style;
  6. Advanced knowledge of video editing and asset management platforms, computer system operation and maintenance, hardware and software;
  7. Knowledge of video-editing principles and techniques;
  8. A strong track record using digital platforms for journalistic content;
  9. Proficiency with WordPress, Adobe Premier, Adobe Illustrator, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook;
  10. Ability to work flexible hours and a strong work ethic;
  11. Initiative and ability to plan, prioritize and organize workflow;
  12. Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills;
  13. Independence, self-motivation, and self-sufficiency;
  14. Willingness to upgrade editorial and technical skills as required;
