Racism in Health Care: Federal Ministers Comment After Meeting – Oct. 16, 2020
Federal ministers Marc Miller (Indigenous services), Carolyn Bennett (Crown-Indigenous relations), and Patty Hajdu (health) speak with reporters on Parliament Hill at the conclusion of an emergency meeting with their provincial counterparts, Indigenous leaders, and representatives from the health-care system. The meeting was called to address the problem of systemic racism in health care, an issue that has received renewed attention in light of circumstances surrounding the September 28, 2020, death of Joyce Echaquan, an Atikamekw woman, in a hospital in Joliette.
