Nunavut Announces First Presumptive Case of COVID-19 – July 2, 2020
In Iqaluit, George Hickes, Nunavut's minister of health, and Dr. Michael Patterson, Nunavut’s chief medical officer of health, announce the territory’s first presumptive case of COVID-19 (coronavirus disease). The individual is a worker at the Mary River Mine. There has been no contact between workers at the mine and any of the surrounding communities. Update: On July 10, 2020, the territory announced that a test to confirm the Mary River Mine case came back negative, meaning it remains a presumptive case only. (no interpretation)
