COVID-19: Canada Responds
COVID-19: Premier Doug Ford on Extension of Emergency Measures – July 7, 2020
In a news conference at Queen’s Park, Ontario Premier Doug Ford provides an update on the province's response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and discusses his government's legislation that would extend certain public-health measures and restrictions that are in place due to the coronavirus. The use of legislation to extend those measures is necessary in light of the expiration, on July 15, 2020, of Ontario's state of emergency. The provincial government will introduce a motion on July 8 to extend the state of emergency until July 24 to ensure measures are in place until the legislation comes into effect. The premier is joined at the news conference by Solicitor General Sylvia Jones and Health Minister Christine Elliott.
