PM Trudeau Announces COVID-19 Vaccine Procurement Agreements
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau holds a news conference after meeting with scientists at a National Research Council of Canada (NRC) facility in Montreal. He announces that the federal government has signed agreements in principle with Johnson & Johnson and Novavax to procure millions of doses of the companies' experimental COVID 19 vaccines. The agreements follow those already reached with Pfizer and Moderna. The prime minister also announces funding to establish a new biomanufacturing facility at the NRC’s Human Health Therapeutics Research Centre in Montreal. He is joined by Navdeep Bains, the minister of innovation, science and industry; Mélanie Joly, the minister of economic development and official languages; and Montreal-area Liberal MPs Rachel Bendayan and Anthony Housefather.
