Federal Government Announces COVID-19 Vaccine Procurement Agreements

At a news conference in Toronto, ministers Anita Anand (public services and procurement) and Navdeep Bains (innovation, science and industry) announce that the federal government has reached agreements with Pfizer and Moderna to secure millions of doses of the companies’ respective COVID-19 vaccine candidates. The ministers also announce the membership of the COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force, which will be advising the government on how to support vaccine research in Canada and how to ensure access to safe and reliable treatments for the virus for Canadians. Following their announcements, the ministers take questions from reporters. (August 5, 2020)
