Alberta Update on Surgical Wait Times – September 11, 2020
Alberta Health Minister Tyler Shandro holds a news conference in Edmonton to announce a plan to clear the province's remaining backlog of scheduled surgeries postponed by the COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. The backlog has already been cut by 88 per cent. The minister also announces the creation of an Indigenous grant program for First Nations communities interested in developing their own proposals for critical care. He is joined by First Nations chiefs Ouray Crowfoot (Siksika Nation) and Roy Whitney (Tsuut'ina Nation), as well as Dr. Francois Belanger, vice-president and chief medical officer of Alberta Health Services.
