COVID-19: Ontario Invests $741M to Reduce Surgery Backlog
Ontario Premier Doug Ford speaks with reporters at Queen’s Park, where he announces the fourth part of the province’s plan to deal with a likely second wave of COVID-19. He announces that the government will invest $741 million to help clear the backlog of surgeries and other medical procedures, and to build more capacity in the health-care system to manage surges in COVID-19 cases. He also answers questions from reporters regarding Ontario's decision to impose tighter restrictions for bars and restaurants and to close all strip clubs. The premier is joined by Ontario Deputy Premier and Health Minister Christine Elliott. The province began rolling out details of its preparedness plan this week.
