Alberta Outlines COVID-19 Testing Program for Travellers – Oct. 22, 2020
Alberta ministers Tyler Shandro (health) and Doug Schweitzer (jobs, economy and innovation) speak with reporters in Edmonton about the province's COVID-19 testing pilot program for Albertans returning from international travel. They are joined via teleconference by Premier Jason Kenney, who is in self-isolation after a cabinet minister and close contact tested positive for COVID-19. Starting November 2, COVID-19 tests will be offered at the Coutts land border crossing and the Calgary International Airport. The joint pilot program from the provincial and federal governments will test an alternative to the current 14-day quarantine requirement for international travellers. Bob Sartor (president and CEO, Calgary Airport Authority), Ed Sims (president and CEO, WestJet), and Jason Pincock (CEO, DynaLIFE) also take part in the news conference. (no interpretation)
