COVID-19: Ontario Premier Says New Restrictions Coming for Hardest-Hit Areas
In a news conference at Queen’s Park, Ontario Premier Doug Ford and provincial cabinet minister Monte McNaughton (labour, training and skills development) provide an update on their government’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. They are joined by Dr. David Williams, Ontario’s chief medical officer of health. In his remarks, the premier says that new public-health restrictions will be announced on November 20 for parts of the province that are the hardest hit by COVID-19. Premier Ford also announces that government is launching a series of education and enforcement campaigns to ensure businesses across the province are taking the necessary steps to keep employees, consumers and the public safe. More than 200 provincial offences officers will visit strategic locations. If a person or business does not respect public-health orders, they could be issued a fine of $750. (no interpretation)
