COVID-19: Canada Responds
Federal Officials Release Updated COVID-19 Modelling – November 20, 2020
On Parliament Hill, Patty Hajdu, Canada’s minister of health, Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada’s chief public health officer, and Dr. Howard Njoo, the deputy chief public health officer, hold a technical briefing to discuss the most recent federal modelling data concerning the possible impact of COVID-19 in Canada. Modelling forecasts that if the number of social contacts is not sufficiently reduced, Canada could see 20,000 new cases daily by the end of December. This potential surge would also mean an increase in hospitalizations and deaths. The number of new cases has increased constantly in recent weeks, currently reaching 4,300 across Canada.
