COVID-19: Quebec Minister Announces Holiday Rules for Visiting Seniors
At a press conference in Montreal, Quebec’s minister of seniors and informal caregivers Marguerite Blais makes an announcement regarding public-health measures that will be applied to the province's retirement homes and long-term care homes during the holiday season She is joined by Dr. Richard Massé, strategic medical advisor with Quebec’s public health department. The minister announces that from December 17 to January 11, only informal caregivers known by the staff will be allowed to visit a resident per a 24-hour cycle. Only one informal caregiver will be authorized to visit a resident in a red zone every 24 hours, while two caregivers will be authorized for visits in an orange zone. Residents from these facilities will be allowed to join only one family “bubble” for the holiday season and will need to self-isolate for seven days upon their return.
