Alberta COVID-19 Update: Some Restrictions Will Be Eased – January 14, 2021

In Edmonton, Tyler Shandro, the Alberta minister of health, Doug Schweitzer, the minister of jobs, economy and innovation, and Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s chief medical officer of health, provide an update on their province’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic.

In his remarks, Minister Shandro announces that certain public-health measures that are currently in place will be eased, effective January 18, 2021. The changes include an increase in the maximum size of both funeral services and outdoor social gatherings, as well as the reopening, by appointment only, of businesses such as hair salons and tattoo parlours. Indoor social gatherings continue to be prohibited. (no interpretation)
