COVID-19: Canada Responds
Toronto Mayor on City's COVID-19 Response, Vaccine Shortage – January 20, 2021
Toronto Mayor John Tory speaks with reporters at City Hall about the city's COVID-19 response. He faces questions on the provincial government's order to pause Toronto's new COVID-19 immunization clinic due to a shortage of vaccines. Located at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the clinic opened on January 18 with the aim of vaccinating 250 health-care workers daily over the coming weeks. It was the province's first vaccination site not held at a hospital or long-term care home. The closure follows the federal government's announcement of further COVID-19 vaccine supply shortages. Pfizer recently announced it was temporarily reducing the number of international vaccine shipments in the coming weeks in order to increase production capacity at one of its European manufacturing facilities.
