COVID-19: Canada Responds
Ontario Premier Doug Ford on Anti-human Trafficking Legislation, COVID-19
In a news conference at Queen’s Park, Ontario Premier Doug Ford announces his government's new legislation to combat human trafficking. He also faces questions on his government’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. The premier is joined by Sylvia Jones, Ontario's solicitor general, and Jill Dunlop, provincial associate minister of children and women's issues. This update comes as York Region ends its lockdown and re-enters the red zone on the province’s colour-coded COVID-19 framework. With Ontario continuing to ease restrictions, only Toronto, Peel Region and North Bay-Parry Sound remain under the stay-at-home order due to continued high number of COVID-19 cases in those three hotspots.
