COVID-19: Canada Responds
COVID-19: Alberta to Return to ‘Step 1’ Restrictions – April 6, 2021
In Edmonton, Jason Kenney, the premier of Alberta, Tyler Shandro, the minister of health, and Dr. Deena Hinshaw, the province's chief medical officer of health, provide an update on the response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. In his remarks, the premier announces that, effective midnight, the province will return to stricter public-health measures as it faces a growing number of cases of highly transmissible virus variants. The measures will be similar to those that were in place under 'Step 1' of the province's multi-stage reopening plan, including new occupancy limits for retail stores and places of worship. As well, a ban on indoor dining at restaurants and bars will take effect April 9 at noon. (no interpretation)
