COVID-19: Ontario Education Minister Announces Increased Safety Measures
At a news conference in Toronto, Stephen Lecce, Ontario's minister of education, announces new safety measures to limit the spread of COVID-19 in schools. These measures include expanding COVID-19 testing to asymptomatic people and increasing outdoor classes. This announcement comes following Premier Doug Ford's declaration of a state of emergency and announcement of a stay-at-home order for a four-week period, starting April 8. Ford also announced expanding vaccine eligibility for all education workers and teachers in Toronto and Peel Region’s hot spots. Vaccination for education workers will then roll out to priority neighbourhoods in other hot spot regions. (April 7, 2021) (no interpretation)
