COVID-19: Canada Responds
Federal Ministers and Health Officials Update on COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution
In a virtual news conference, Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada’s chief public health officer, and Dr. Howard Njoo, deputy chief public health officer, join federal ministers Anita Anand (public services and procurement) and Dominic LeBlanc (intergovernmental affairs) to provide an update on Canada’s response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. Minister Anand says that Canada’s allocation of the Moderna vaccine for the month of July is 11 million doses, with 5 million doses expected to arrive before the end of June. In total, Canada is set to receive more than 50 million vaccine doses by the end of June and more than 68 million doses by the end of July. The speakers also face questions about the new guidelines from Canada’s National Advisory Committee on Immunization, which recommends using the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines as the second dose for people who received the AstraZeneca vaccine for their first shot.
