Iain Rankin Wins Nova Scotia Liberal Leadership – February 6, 2021
Iain Rankin delivers remarks after winning the Nova Scotia Liberal leadership at the party’s convention in Halifax. Later, he also responds to questions from reporters. Rankin, who defeated rival Labi Kousoulis with 52.41 per cent of the vote on the second ballot, becomes premier-designate of Nova Scotia and will succeed Stephen McNeil, the outgoing Liberal leader and premier. McNeil announced on August 6, 2020, that he would be leaving politics after 17 years in elected office and seven years as premier. (no interpretation)
