Political Blind Date – Opportunities for Newcomers

Two politicians with opposing points of view try to get to know each other in each episode of this six-part series. Whether cycling around the city, or trying to rent a flat in Toronto’s red-hot housing market, the two subjects are brought together to tackle Canada’s most important issues face-to-face through in-depth conversations.

Jenny Kwan, NDP MP for Vancouver East, British Columbia, and immigrant to Canada at the age of 9, and Gary Anandasangaree, Liberal MP for Scarborough-Rouge Park, Toronto, and a Tamil refugee from Sri Lanka, explore whether the promise of acceptance and opportunity are equitable for everyone who arrives in Canada, no matter their status or origin.
