Jagmeet Singh Lays Out NDP's Priorities For New Parliament
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh speaks with reporters in Ottawa following his party's first caucus meeting since the federal election. He lays out the NDP's first two priorities in the upcoming minority Parliament. His party's first bill will be a framework to put in place universal pharmacare. The NDP will also call for the Liberal government to drop its appeal of the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal's ruling on First Nations child welfare. Singh is joined by members of his newly elected caucus. The New Democrats will return to the House of Commons in fourth party status with 24 MPs, down from 39 at the dissolution of the 42nd Parliament. (October 30, 2019)
