Chrystia Freeland in Mexico City for New NAFTA Signing Ceremony
Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland, United States Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Mexico's Undersecretary for North America Jesús Seade take part in a trilateral meeting and signing ceremony in Mexico City for the new North American trade agreement. U.S. Democrats have agreed to revisions in the trade deal that addressed their concerns on labour standards, environmental protections, and prescription drug prices. The renegotiated NAFTA was signed between Canada, the United States and Mexico on November 30, 2018, after 14 months of intense negotiations, but only Mexico has ratified it.
