Coronavirus: First Evacuation Flight Expected to Arrive in Canada on Feb. 7
At a news conference in Ottawa, Foreign Affairs Minister François-Philippe Champagne, Health Minister Patty Hajdu and Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada's chief public health officer, provide an update on the federal government’s efforts to repatriate Canadians from Wuhan, China, amid the ongoing coronavirus outbreak in that region. A plane carrying Canadian evacuees is expected to depart from Wuhan today and arrive at Canadian Forces Base Trenton in Ontario on February 7. A second Canadian flight is scheduled to leave Wuhan on February 10 and arrive in Canada on February 11. The ministers are also asked about the quarantined cruise ship off the coast of Japan that is carrying 251 Canadians among the thousands of ship passengers. Two Canadians are among the twenty passengers who have tested positive for the virus. (February 6, 2020)
