Champagne on Repatriated Canadians, Quarantined Cruise Ships – February 7, 2020
Speaking with reporters on Parliament Hill, Foreign Affairs Minister François-Philippe Champagne provides an update on the federal government’s efforts to repatriate Canadians from Wuhan, China, amid the ongoing coronavirus outbreak in that region. An aircraft carrying 174 Canadian evacuees has already arrived at Canadian Forces Base Trenton in Ontario. A second Canadian flight is scheduled to depart Wuhan on February 10 and arrive in Canada on February 11. The minister is also asked about two quarantined cruise ships carrying Canadian passengers. One vessel located off the coast of Japan is carrying 255 Canadians, including seven who have tested positive for the virus. A second quarantined ship, in Hong Kong, has 30 Canadians on board.
