Jason Kenney Announces $147 Million in Aid for Northern Alberta Flooding Victims
At a news conference in Edmonton, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney announces his government will provide $147 million in disaster relief funding to help residents, businesses and communities recover from flooding in northern Alberta. This amount is in addition to nearly $8 million in emergency payments that have been provided so far to flood evacuees. Kaycee Madu (Alberta's minister of municipal affairs), Shane Schreiber (managing director, Alberta Emergency Management Agency) and Laila Goodridge (MLA for Fort McMurray-Lac La Biche) also take part in the news conference.
