RCMP Update on Arrest at Rideau Hall – July 3, 2020

At a news conference in Ottawa, Mike Duheme, the RCMP deputy commissioner responsible for federal policing, provides an update on the investigation into a July 2, 2020, incident in which an armed suspect was apprehended at Rideau Hall after breaching a gate with a pickup truck. RCMP have confirmed that the suspect is a member of the Canadian Armed Forces. Neither Governor General Julie Payette nor Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was present on the Rideau Hall grounds at the time of the incident.
