Conservative MPs Raise Concerns About the Awarding of Federal Contracts
At a news conference on Parliament Hill, Conservative critics Michael Barrett (ethics) and Pierre Poilievre (finance) discuss ethics concerns related to the awarding of two recent federal contracts. It was recently reported that the federal government is paying a firm that employs the spouse of Katie Telford, the prime minister's chief of staff, for the administration of the federal commercial rent assistance program. The Prime Minister’s Office has stated that Telford has recused herself from any decisions that may involve the firm. Meanwhile, the government's now-cancelled agreement with WE Charity is the subject of studies by two parliamentary committees as well as the federal ethics commissioner. (August 9, 2020)
