MPs on COVID-19 Rapid Tests, Aid Bill – September 30, 2020
Health Minister Patty Hadju speaks with reporters on Parliament Hill about Health Canada's regulatory approval of the ID NOW rapid COVID-19 tests for use in the country. The approval comes one day after the federal government announced it had signed an agreement with U.S.-based Abbott Rapid Diagnostics to purchase up to 7.9 million of those rapid tests. NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh comments on the House of Commons' adoption of legislation to implement three new benefits for workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. His party supported the government's fast-tracking of the bill, which was passed at all stages by the House on September 29.
