Bloc Québécois MPs Call for the Release of Raif Badawi – November 19, 2020
In a news conference on Parliament Hill, Bloc Québécois MPs Stéphane Bergeron (the party’s foreign affairs critic), Alexis Brunelle-Duceppe (the critic for international cooperation), and Christine Normandin (the critic for citizenship) call for the release of Raif Badawi, the imprisoned Saudi blogger and human rights activist. Badawi’s wife and children are Canadian citizens and live in Sherbrooke, Québec. The call comes as Saudi Arabia is set to host a virtual meeting of the G20 leaders. Bergeron also answers questions on Liberal MP Emmanuella Lambropoulos’s comments about the decline of the French language in Quebec, and on the REM, a transit project under construction in Montreal.
