Federal Officials Discuss Investigation into Marylène Levesque's Murder
In a virtual news conference, Public Safety Minister Bill Blair and his parliamentary secretary Joël Lightbound announce changes to the supervision of offenders in Quebec after a national joint investigation into the murder of Marylène Levesque. The 22-year-old sex worker was murdered in January 2020 in a Quebec City hotel room during an encounter with a convicted killer who was out on day parole. Her death sparked a review of the parole board process. Minister Blair is joined by Anne Kelly, commissioner of the Correctional Service of Canada, Jennifer Oades, chairperson of the Parole Board, and Sylvie Blanchet, executive vice-chairperson of the Parole Board of Canada.
