At a news conference in Ottawa, federal ministers and Indigenous leaders discuss the passing in the Senate of Bill C-15, the federal government’s legislation to implement the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) in Canada. Ministers David Lametti (justice) and Carolyn Bennett (Crown–Indigenous relations) are joined by Assembly of First Nations National Chief Perry Bellegarde, Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami President Natan Obed, Métis National Council spokesperson David Chartrand, as well as Chief Wilton Littlechild, a former member of Parliament and former commissioner for Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
