MPs Consider Govt Motion on House Sitting Schedule – May 25, 2020
As the House of Commons returns following a prolonged adjournment due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, MPs debate the Liberal government's proposal for future sittings and meetings during the ongoing pandemic. The motion calls for the expansion of the meeting schedule for the Special Committee on the COVID-19 Pandemic from three to four days a week until June 18, with an eventual move to hybrid meetings that would combine MPs in the chamber with those joining by video link. The government is also proposing four House sittings to be held in July and August that will allow opposition parties to question ministers on matters unrelated to COVID -19. The House would also sit on June 17 to consider government spending requirements.
