The committee continues its study of a private member's bill to end the captivity of all cetaceans (whales, dolphins, and porpoises) in Canada. Bill S-203 would also prohibit the import and export of cetaceans to and from Canada. Senators hear from Fisheries and Oceans Canada officials Sylvie Lapointe (A/assistant deputy minister, Ecosystems and Fisheries Management), Adam Burns (A/director general, Fisheries Resource Management), and Arran McPherson (director general, Ecosystem Science Directorate), as well as from Joanne Klineberg (senior counsel, Criminal Law Policy Section) from Justice Canada.
