Witnesses Testify on Bill C-71’s Impact on Hate Crimes, Police and Gun Shows
National Security and Defence - April 1, 2019 - Part 2: Senators continue their study of Bill C-71, the government’s proposed gun control legislation. The bill would enhance required background checks, change authorization to transport rules, and require retailers to record of all firearm sales and inventories. They hear from a number of witnesses who testify on the legislation’s potential impact on controlling hate groups, the police force and gun shows. Appearing as witnesses are Canadian Anti-Hate Network’s Bernie Farber, Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police’s Chief Evan Bray and Chief Adam Palmer, Government of British Columbia’s Wayne Rideout and Alberta Arms and Cartridge Collectors Association’s Dr. Teri Bryant.
