In Committee from the Senate of Canada
Formerly Suspended Senator Lynn Beyak Disputes Expenses Approval
Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration - December 3, 2020: Non-affiliated Senator Lynn Beyak presents a request to receive an exception from the Senators' Office Management Policy over an invoice of expenses. Senator Beyak is appealing the steering committee’s approval of only a portion of her office’s expenses over contract work. Senator Beyak was suspended from the Senate twice: first for posting controversial posts about residential schools on her official Senate website; second for failing to comply with mandated anti-racism training. Senator Beyak’s suspension ended once parliament was prorogued in August 2020. Senators also hear from the Senate of Canada’s David Vatcher and Caroline Morency about funding requests for broadcasting and information technology, landline services, and vehicle maintenance.
