Ethics Committee Holds Emergency Meeting on SNC-Lavalin Report

Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics – August 21, 2019:

Members of the House of Commons ethics committee consider a request from opposition MPs to hear from ethics commissioner Mario Dion on his recent report on the SNC-Lavalin affair. The opposition also wants to hear from up to nine other witnesses.

Dion concluded that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau violated the Conflict of Interest Act by trying to influence former justice minister and attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould’s decision in the criminal investigation of the Quebec engineering firm on fraud and bribery charges.
