Foreign Affairs Officials on Canada-China Relationship

Special Committee on Canada-China Relations – January 30, 2020:

The committee hears from two panels of government officials: one to provide background on Canada’s relationship with China, and a second to discuss challenges to the trade relationship. Of particular concern to MPs is China’s ongoing detention of Canadian citizens Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor.

Appearing before the committee are the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development’s Marta Morgan, Paul Thoppil, Steve Verheul, Duane McMullen, and François Rivest; as well as the Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food’s Fred Gorrell.
