Academics Weigh in On Canada-China Relations

Special Committee on Canada-China Relations – February 24, 2020 – Part 1:

The committee hears about Canada’s relationship with China from three experts, who discuss the deteriorating relationship between the two countries stemming from Canada’s arrest of Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou and China’s subsequent detention of Canadians Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor. The witnesses also discuss the nature of the Chinese government and make recommendations for how Canada should move forward.

Appearing before the committee are the MacDonald-Laurier Institute’s Charles Burton; University of Alberta Professor Phil Calvert; as well as University of British Columbia Professor Paul Evans.
