Special COVID-19 Committee: Freeland on Potential CERB Fraud

Special Committee on the COVID-19 Pandemic – May 14, 2020:

In a virtual meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland and federal cabinet ministers are asked about the number of fraudulent CERB (Canada Emergency Response Benefit) claims processed by the government, federal health care funding transfers to the provinces, eligibility for the Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA), and more.

The special committee comprises all 338 MPs and will meet via videoconference on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The meeting format, which comes in response to concerns about maintaining physical distancing during the pandemic, was established in a motion passed by the House of Commons on April 20, 2020.
