Special COVID-19 Committee: Calls for COVID-19 Race-Based Data

Special Committee on the COVID-19 Pandemic – June 1, 2020:

Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland responds to questions about the eligibility requirements for the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS), the federal deficit, the government’s efforts to collect race-based data and to combat anti-Black racism, and more.

The House of Commons passed a government motion on May 26, 2020, with support from the Liberals, the New Democrats and the Greens, concerning the schedule for sittings during the ongoing pandemic. The meeting schedule for the Special Committee on the COVID-19 Pandemic has been expanded from three to four days a week until June 17. The hybrid meeting format combines MPs in the chamber with others joining by video link.
