Environment Minister Defends Government’s Climate Record

Environment and Sustainable Development – November 4, 2020:

Environment Minister Jonathan Wilkinson appears before the committee to defend his departmental budgets allocated in the 2020-2021 main estimates. Minister Wilkinson faces questions over his government’s progress in meeting its carbon emission targets. During the 2019 federal election campaign, the Liberals pledged for Canada to achieve a net-zero emission by 2050 and to plant two billion trees by 2030.

Also speaking to the committee are the Department of the Environment’s Martine Dubuc, Diane Campbell, Niall O’Dea, Matt Jones, Helen Ryan, John Moffet, and Carol Najm; Parks Canada Agency’s Ron Hallman, Andrew Campbell, Catherine Blanchard, and Darlene Upton; as well as Impact Assessment Agency of Canada’s Terence Hubbard and Brent Parker.
