In Committee from the House of Commons

Canadian Heritage – November 5, 2020

Canadian Heritage Minister Steven Guilbeault defends funding requests in the 2020-2021 main estimates and supplementary estimates for his department, various cultural agencies, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, and more. Minister Guilbeault faces questions over his government’s support for Canada’s heritage, arts and cultural industries during the pandemic. He also discusses his government’s new broadcasting bill, legislation that would force streaming services to pay hundreds of millions annually to support Canadian content.

Also speaking to the committee are the Department of Canadian Heritage’s Hélène Laurendeau and Jean-Stéphen Piché.
